So this week has been so hectic! Well, this past month really....You see, my husband is a teacher and he didn't get a summer teaching gig so he's been hanging around the house a lot. I love him and it's been nice to spend so much time together, but he is a work horse! He installed new flooring, which by the way, you can see it HERE. Then after our family reunion trip we got home and began organizing and decluttering. We even had a yard sale.
He kept mentioning the bags of scraps under my cutting table and wondered aloud if I was going to organize those ever. Well, I am proud to say I have done it! I took all the fancy shoes from my closet and kicked them out of their lovely containers so that I could sort my scraps by color. I was trying to be modest but ended up having to put one color in each bin rather than two. I have a LOT more scraps then I thought for sure!
So, here is the result of about four hours of sorting.....
Looking at it I didn't think I had this much, but I actually have two larger bins of just blues and greens....I think I may be a bit of a scrap hoarder as well.
Anyway, now to my giveaway!! I have three bags left over that didn't fit in my bins (or I just got tired of sorting them) so I am going to give them away! One large baggy to one person and the two smaller ones to a second person.
All you have to do is leave a comment below...tell me what your scrap situation is all about.
Good Luck!
Would love to give your scraps a new home. My scraps are just in bins I dig through. Love your organization idea though...so maybe need to do that too.
ReplyDeleteI love a good organizing binge! I feel soooo good after I sort through an area and I LOVE to throw things out! My scrap situation is totally under control now because during the granny square quilt a long I cut every scrap up into 2 1/2 in. squares and used all but a baggie full. No more scrap bin for me and I kind of miss them. I didn't realize how many times I reached into that bin for a splash of different color or print.
ReplyDeleteScraps are my favorite thing in the whole quilting world - I just love those snippets of projects past! I have scraps cut into 2.5-inch and 5-inch squares and 2.5-inch strips. Those are all nicely organized, but things get a little messy after that. I have the book "Sunday Morning Quilts" and I am planning to follow their scrap organizing plan when I can... Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWell done for getting so organised. I'm organizing my craft area at the moment. I love scraps - they're my favourite thing to work with. Maybe because this is where the true roots of patchwork come from. You're using left overs to create something new. I get a kick out of that idea every time I sew with scraps!
ReplyDeleteI tried organizing the Bonnie Hunter way-but I just couldn't get to all the cutting of the scraps to usable sizes. Just recently I did what you have done and put my scraps in containers by color. I have a separate container for strips and chunks because I really want to make a strip quilt one day.
ReplyDeleteI love scraps!
ReplyDeleteI just keep mine in a basket but I see some people organise them into colours/sizes etc!!
I keep scraps at the end of my cutting table for awhile. Then, I sort them into lights and darks and put them in bins. Thanks for the chance to win your scraps!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Wish mine were as well organized. :) Mine are all in one huge bin...I really need to do what you did there!
ReplyDeleteWould love to give your scraps a new home - I promise to pet them, and talk to them, and most of all - to use them! LOL
Oh my goodness your scraps rock!! I need tuperwares like yours!! My scraps are all over the place and nothing is separated - they are all in two bin-like things and are mostly itty bitty bits that I can't bear to throw away and are too small to use really... They will come in hand one day though right!!? I would love to win some of yours - woohoo thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love scraps :) I put everything in a basket. I think I need sometime to organize it. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love scraps! Now this may sound funny, but I use them! a lot! Sometimes I actually have to cut up yardage to get the right color of scrap. I would happily give yours a loving home. Thanks for the chance~ and way to go on the organizing!!
ReplyDeleteI love scraps as I use them up in my crazy quilts. So I get to use my fabrics twice! Not only that I use them for small projects like fabric books and such. So I love all scraps and use them up pretty quickly. Thanks for opportunity to win some of your scraps.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a lot of scraps yet, and they are all over the place. I need to find a way to organize them! Would love to have some to play with.
